W. Steve Wilson

SF in Verse

They may not be a huge segment of the Science Fiction genre, but writers do pen Science Fiction Poetry. I certainly don’t profess to be a poet, but I have been known to compose a short, lyrical verse or two occasionally. Likely, an exercise or educational topic from the St. Charles Writers Group (SCWG, my favorite group of fellow writers) prompts an attempt.

I hope you enjoy my efforts.

Lunar Gravity: A Limerick in Three Parts

The source material (Lunar Gravity) is my in-process debut novel. One day I hope you’ll see an announcement of its publication. Until then, here’s a teaser of what you might expect.

The Voyage of the Argo

I authored this offering in celebration of National Poetry Month. I tried to capture the essence of a classic epic poem.

The Case of a Mounting Sorrow

A prompt from the SCWG, a study of Edgar Allan Poe’s poetry, inspired these verses, with some help from The Cask of Amontillado, for the source material.

Santa to the Rescue

Just in time for Christmas, a re-telling of the well-known Clement C. Moore poem reveals what really happened on that fateful night before Christmas.

Alien Visitation Tropes: Four Limericks

Science Fiction tropes are fun to play around with, and who doesn’t like a limerick. [TV-MA warning: the fourth verse is bawdy in the tradition of limericks everywhere.]
